* Who I highly doubt is dead like mentioned by others previously. My reason for believing so is due to the fact that, Xiao ancestor being the only one making it to Dou Di, least that we know of or have been mentioned so far. And someone of that stature would not be constrained by the concept of life or death. I have not read the novel or manhua, so cannot confirm my reasoning, which is a mere hypophysis of mine.

** Xue means Blood in mandarin and in medical terms, however;
In traditional chinese, the word blood represents Qi or life force, or something that runs in our veins circulating energy. This is where it gets interesting though, because.. Qi and life force is categorised as Yang, while Blood is Yin.
Since Qi and life force represents yang, while blood represents yin, one would most likely think the reason would be due to the fact that, seeing blood means death (which was btw a normal viewpoint in the past, in general due to the difference of common knowledge then and our current modern knowledge within the topic of medical science). Hence the martial nickname Xue Dao could also be translated to one of the following, which I personally think sounds way cooler.

-Saint Blade of Life and Death
